There are many times when intelligent people do not perform well in exams, owning to stress and anxiety.

Many times, people found that their mind is tinking of something else during the exam itself, and their mind turns out to be empty.

To tackle this, you might think of a light music that is being played, while you answer the questions.

This is because your left brain is answering the questions, but your right brain is wandering away. Thus, think of a light music to fill the right brain, so that you can focus on the exam questions.

This is part of NLP: Neuro Linguistics Programming.

If you have trouble breathing during exam, rub the part where both your collar bones meet.
That works for me :)

Don't get tensed while you're to write an exam. First thing is to keep your mind calm and concentrate only on your question paper that you're to get. I usually have this silly, or should I say this stupid problem getting nervous when an exam appears. I forget all the answers, my mind becomes blank and I would be like a person appearing in the exam hall without preparing.... But then, I rectified this mistake of mine and tired to focus on nothing else, except the papers. Thus, I no longer suffered this problem and I was able to write my exams well.... Just do this and I'm sure you can excel in academics. Hope my answer was helpful to you in driving away your fears of examination.... By the way, you get tensed only during the beginning of the first exam or during the beginning of every exam?

I never got nervous or anxious that much during my high school or university exams because I always knew that as long as I studied what I was supposed to, got some good sleep and took my time to read and understand each question then I was perfectly fine(high school exams are not as difficult as university or college exams, but they are still exams none the less) .

During university exams, which were more difficult, I used to always make sure to take a deep breathe before and after, but also during the exam you need to take breathes too because it stops you from being too nervous or anxious. Plus it keeps your heart normal and you can concentrate more. In other words try to take a deep breath and then breathe normal during the exam... I would also usually focus my mind on the exam and the information needed to finish it, and block out everything else that is not needed for the exam, then during each question I would read it once or twice to make sure I understand it, think of an answer and then answer it with the information required. Also remember that when you are finished, if you have time re-read the questions and the answers you gave in case you figure out more information to add or you might figure out that you answered a question wrong, and that way you can correct yourself.

Someone above me said that they usually try not to expect too much, which is a good idea because when you put way too many expectations on yourself you end up getting too nervous or anxious to do or finish your exam, but when you free your mind of expectations real good things usually happen.

Being interested on the subject you appear for the exam may be the only solution to relieve all the nervousness factor which automatically helps in gaining good marks also.
