deep breathing exercises, yoga or other relaxation training
Go out & do something
I am seeking counseling for my anxiety.
go to a web site called: panicsurvivor.com There is a lot of ideas there.
psychotherapy…seriously, talk to a counselor…if you need free services talk to someone at the local college…often times upper level psyc students will work with you for free (i’m a psyc student)
I give myself time out I go somewhere quiet and breath. I also use St. Johns Wart its a natural herb that helps you calm down.
when you feel panicky do breathing exercises. and make sure your eating right and find a new focus. be it art or exercise.and journal your thoughts.it didn’t take a day to get with your ex and it will take more than a day to get over it.
sublimation – use energy to do something that’s more beneficial when experiencing anxiety.
in other words, do something that makes you happy and stop stressing over it.
Taking a B-complex vitamin is a good remedy for stress/anxiety. I don’t know whether you consider vitamins and supplements “medicating yourself.” I’ve also found that finding a task/hobby/activity to really concentrate on is helpful — relieves you of all of that scary free time when your mind can roam to painful memories. Try origami — no joke. It’s good because it makes you use your mind and your hands and requires a lot of focus. Good luck.
the human mind is a powerful thing. i studied karate for a long time, and there were several meditation excercises for warm ups and cool down excercises. the one that worked best for me when i got stressed was to close my eyes, and breathe very slowly at a controlled pace. in strong through the nose, out soft from the mouth. remind yourself that you’re in control of yourself, and that you’re strong enough to handle whatever is thrown your way. through stress and hardship comes strength and courage. if you really want to get into the meditating part too, the thing that always zoned me out was trying to fathom “nothing”. sensei asked me what i saw when i thought of nothing. i told him empty space. he said “like a black void in space?” i said yes. he told me that black IS something, i had to find nothing. as i tried to think of what that really was, i just zoned out entirely. the next thing i knew they had to shake me to get me to come back,it had been about 5 minutes. and i felt like i just slept for a hundred years. i’d never felt so relaxed. just remember that YOU are in control of your life.
If you are afraid that no one wants you or that you can’t keep a relationship going you should try for some casual dates. Maybe a girl friend could set you up with a friend. Nothing causes as much panic as being in a hurry or trying too hard.
Get yourself busy, don’t leave yourself idle where you have time to ponder and think too much.
Anxiety and depression are also due to various chemical disorders in the body. Basically medication is given to regulate the production of those chemicals to the right level. So Exercise well, follow a good diet and follow a proper sleep pattern. This will to a great extent regulate those chemicals to the right levels which will in turn make you feel better.
Therapy / counseling also helps. At times it helps to spill out your aggravation as it lightens your mind and you feel lighter.
Try to use various self motivation methods whereby you keep encouraging yourself to look at the positives in and around yourself.
Hope these help.
All the best.
exercise, laughter, cleaning, not thinking so much about problems, counseling, pets, and so forth.,,lower your intake of caffeine.
Plus you may need to accept that meds are beneficial if you need them and if you do not abuse them. So, talk to a counselor and doctor. Get more than one professional opinion. Remember that mental problems, anxiety… are real and need treatment just as any other medical problem. It just depends on your level of need to find the best source of help. It may just be situational anxiety and that can be fixed through the choices you make. Again, a counselor can help you find the cause and help you choose the solutions. It may take awhile to feel better, but it beats doing nothing and letting it get worse
medicating doesnt really help u deal w/ a problem it jus makes u want 2 avoid it for a little while…but what hppns when ur out of meds? u get more anxiety ryt well any real doctor will tell u that the cause of this is due to the lost or the replacement of something, theres nothing wrng w/ u ur jus really sad,,, the best advice i say is to talk out u problem w/ some1 u trust…theres no need for depresion to kick in over a lil conflict w/ something small…life goes on im telling u and theres nothing to get sad over…. trust me i noe what im talkn about
if anxiety is inherited and you have it the rest of your life nothing but medication can help, because there is a level of hormones in your body that is off and the proper medicine will fix that
