Hi, I’m looking for my first summer job, but I suffer from a strong anxiety disorder which limits a lot of options. My psychaitrist said a job is good to give me a sense of responsibility and confidence, but I don’t think I can handle the job. I would love to know if anyone who went through similar situations have any suggestions?

I have a few anxiety disorders myself so I understand how you feel. I can’t really suggest anything cause I don’t know you personally so maybe look in the newspaper for jobs and find whatever floats your boat!
I can relate to your situation as a person with a disability. I was so nervous about my first job as a summer school tutor, but it turned out to be a great experience. You could contact your local center of independent living because they have tons of employment information and resources. If you like animals, you could try getting a job working in a dog kennel. Another idea would be to try working at an equestrian therapeutic riding center. If you think you might like to try your hand at starting your own business, that’s also an option. There’s some great easy to start business ideas here: Personally, I love animals but have recently started doing some freelance writing and web design freelance projects. Good luck!
