I actually just answered a very similar question so I’ll copy and paste what I wrote there:
***
1. Get regular exercise. Don’t overdo it, especially at first. Never exercise beyond a level you feel comfortable with. Regular exercise 5 times a week will help.
2. Eat regularly and include healthy foods in your diet. Don’t eat lots of junk or lots of sugar (Pop has lots of sugar).
3. Get enough good quality sleep.
4. Don’t overdo things such as caffeine or alcohol. Both can lead to imbalances.
5. Tobacco use can trigger stress and high blood pressure.
6. Identify sources of stress, sometimes known as “triggers.” Learn to identify the things that cause stress and develop ways of dealing with them. Learn to realize when you are “freaking out” and take a few seconds to say to yourself, “This is all in the way I react to it.” Learning to “be cool,” although not always easy, can take you miles and miles in your quest to reduce stress. You don’t want to allow yourself to be accostomed to reacting to situations in a stressful way. If you keep this in mind, over time, you can greatly reduce the likelihood that you will react to a situation with a stress reaction.
7. Sometimes, setting aside “quiet periods” during the day can help .. i.e. 20 minutes just sitting somewhere quiet.
8. Watching a light-hearted or humorous television program can help ease more serious thought patterns.
9. Many people find meditation helpful. There are lots of sources of information on meditation on the Internet.
10. Make time for hobbies or things you enjoy.
11. If you are unable to effectively deal with your stress by using the above methods, you may benefit from seeking professional help. That doesn’t mean that you’re wierd or wrong; It means you’re like the millions upon millions of other people who seek to improve the quality of their lives with help from a professional psychiatrist and/or psychologist.

12. Smile and always look at the positive side of every situation! Again, this is not always easy. But if you try it again and again, day after day, you WILL change your attitude. Never allow yourself to be controlled by negative or stressful thoughts. I tell myself, “To think negatively is a waste of my time.” And it is. Just time wasted……
Good luck! =}
Oh another one I like is making sure to get out in the sunlight on a sunny day! Sunlight is absolutely known to have a positive impact on your attitude!!
